Ammonia (Type B2) Refrigerant, Unrestricted Charge Category III Occupancy

Most refrigerated buildings are classified as “Class 7b” this classification is determined by the purpose for which it is designed, constructed or adapted to be used. A Class 7b building is one used “ for storage, or display of goods or produce for sale by wholesale”. a plant or machinery room must have the same classification as the part of the building in which it is situated.

ISECO Consulting Services has interpreted the Greenhouse and Energy Reporting ACT 2007 and the Energy Efficiency Opportunities ACT 2006 to determine the Compliance Duties that affect the refrigeration energy Users.

 

As most food processing  and distribution companies are large refrigeration and energy users, this legislation will have an effect on your business. To simplify these new requirements, ISECO have prepared an interpretation of the two Acts and supporting regulations. This documents is intended to provide a simple overview of the current situation and what may be expected in the near future by way of compliance requirements and carbon offset costs.
