Alex McKenzie

Project Engineer

BE (Mechanical - Hons)

Alex is building their career in refrigeration design, with over 4 years of experience with ISECO, where he began as a graduate Engineer. Now working as a Project Engineer, Alex has been developing his skills in the commercial and industrial sectors, with a focus on supermarket refrigeration with ALDI Australia and Ritchies IGA. Recent work includes medium to large-scale cold storage and distribution centres.

Currently expanding their skills in modelling energy consumption, technical skills, and sustainable refrigeration design. Alex has been working with Ammonia and CO2 refrigerants, concentrating on low charge Ammonia and transcritical CO2 applications.

Additionally, Alex is proficient in computer-based design and supermarket site review.

Alex McKenzie

Robert de Jong

Senior Engineer

BE (Mechanical - Hons),

Robert is a Senior Engineer with over 38 years of experience in industrial refrigeration. Now living in New Zealand, Robert has worked in a wide range of cooling and freezing applications, including meat, poultry, dairy, food processing, cold storage, and distribution.

More recently, Robert has been working on Countdown New Zealand as well as new Fresh Distribution Centres in Auckland and Christchurch.

Additionally, Robert is skilled in specialist designs, budget estimates, site review, and modelling energy consumption.

Craig Willis

Craig has 30 + years of experience in refrigeration design, installation and maintenance.

He has developed expertise in performing plant ammonia refrigeration safety audits as well as design and site reviews for a wide range of applications. This includes both commercial and industrial refrigeration as well as energy audits and maintenance.

Additionally, Craig has undertaken a teaching role at RMIT in refrigeration and air-conditioning.

Craig is also proficient at using our PSA pipe stress analysis software for checking large refrigeration piping systems for compliance.

Jonathan Fryer

Director ISECO

BE (Mechanical, NZ), CP Eng., MIE (Aust), MMT (Melb.) M. AIRAH

Jonathan has over 30 years of experience with industrial refrigeration; specialist temperature and humidity control; air conditioning; ventilation and piped services for food production and wineries.

He is currently a member of the AIRAH Refrigeration special technical group, which promotes the use of natural refrigerants and low emission system design.

Over the past 6 years, Jonathan has worked with ALDI Australia to improve refrigeration consistency and efficiency across all their supermarkets.

Utsav Bhat

Refrigeration Design Engineer

ME (Mechanical), BSc. (Mechanical Engineering)

Utsav is the newest addition to the ISECO team, having joined as a Graduate Engineer in 2021 after completing his Masters in Mechanical Engineering. He has since been focusing on industrial refrigeration system design and heat load calculations for new projects.

Currently working as a Refrigeration Design Engineer, Utsav is involved in the design of large distribution centres, wineries and retail projects requiring cold storage such as the New Sydney Fish Market. In addition to refrigerated spaces, he has recently been using his experience with heat load calculations to design heat pump systems using natural refrigerants in city council electrification projects.
