ALDI Brendale Distribution Centre Using an Ammonia System for Chilled Water in Offices

The ALDI Brendale Distribution Centre has now reached practical completion. This facility has over 10,000 sqm of freezer and chiller storage, all provided by a two-stage refrigeration system.


The 2300 sqm fruit and vegetable & chocolate storage warehouse and the office air conditioning are supplied by a 700 kW chilled water plate heat exchanger, which is connected to a high temperature stage of the ammonia central plant refrigeration system.  This system was designed and specified by ISECO and will effectively eliminate all synthetic refrigerants from the refrigerated warehouse and office systems.  Whilst this has required more coordination with the Mechanical services contractor, the result will give a long-term solution not affected by changes in  HFC phase-downs, etc.

Yalumba Bottling Hall Dew Point Control HVAC System

ISECO and Yalumba have been working with Linney Engineering to develop a HVAC system that controls the bottling hall air dew point to prevent condensation forming on the filled bottles, as the Labels won’t stick if there is excessive condensation.

CO2 / Ammonia Refrigeration Training Rig for RMIT University

This refrigeration training rig has been handed over to the RMIT teaching staff to build local knowledge on small cascade CO2 refrigeration and ammonia/ glycol systems.


ISECO worked with RMIT\'s building consultants and the refrigeration contractor to provide safety reviews and risk assessments, as well as witnessing the safety systems testing during commissioning. The rig was built and designed by C. A Refrigeration system incorporates all the safety features you would expect on a larger plant, including: Automatic ammonia detection, water spray scrubber, relief valves piped to a water tank, automatic exhaust, emergency shutdown, and remote alarm indication.

Large Ammonia Refrigeration System with Full Heat Reclaim

The first stage of commissioning has been completed on a large industrial food processing facility that includes heat reclaim from the refrigeration compressors oil cooling and condenser/ de superheater  to provide a heating source for evaporator defrost and  space heating .
